Heartbreaking dream-pop band, GEMS have dropped yet another ethereal cool-kid-makeout-anthem. Their previous single, “Sinking Stone,” created a vast dreamscape filled with Julee Cruise-like vocals, Lynchian atmospheres, and starry eyed romantic wandering. “Medusa” is similar with its aesthetics but feels slightly more confident—as if the teenagers making out to “Sinking Stone” decide to take it one step further. It’s a lofty track that evokes later waves of new age like Cocteau Twins and Kate Bush. Snag “Medusa” for an intoxicating dose of dream-pop.
